This film follows one teenager who grows Stevie in Los Angeles. He struggles with his family, including his interdependent single parent and his abusive elder brother, and in a school where his wealthier friends seem to dismiss him. When Stevie is friends with a skating squad, he teaches some hard lessons of class, race and privilege.
