Baker Dille (Matthew McConaughey) is a fishing boat captain who runs tours in a quiet, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. His quiet life is shattered, but when his ex-wife Karen (Anne Hathaway) tracks him down with a desperate cry for help. She asks Dill to rescue her and her son from her new violent husband (Jason Clarke) by taking him on a sea fishing trip and then throwing him to the Sharks and leaving him dead. Karen's appearance shoots Dill back into a life he had tried to forget, and as he fights between good and evil, his world has immersed in a new reality that might not be all it seems.
